Dear Yuletide Santa... [Nov. 17th, 2005|03:39 pm]
[Current Mood |excited]

Thank you for offering to write in one of my fandoms!

I think I was a little specific in the details, but really I'm not that much of a Yuletide Grinch!

It's probably already obvious that I like my slash - I like it slow and quiet and filled with unspoken words. I like it cruel and furious and ripping at my lungs. I like it angsty and tortured as well as warm and satisfying. I like it short and minimalistic or long and plotty. You see how easy to please (read: indecisive) I am?

In case you're not a slasher (I know there must be some of you somewhere!) gen or even het is fine too. So yes, point is, whatever you write, be it f/f, m/m, gen or even het, as long as it's in one of my probably-not-so-obscure fandoms, I'll read and savor and be eternally thankful.

So let the craziness begin and good luck, have fun and don't shift into stress overdrive!

Can't wait to read the story and thank you again!

[Current Music |Mr. Zebra - Tori Amos]

I saw Almodovar's Bad Education last night. It was the biggest mindfuck ever.

The entire cast was brilliant, notably though was Gael Garcia Bernal, who tackled his role beautifully, really breathing in his character in all its dimensions and executing his performance with such realism and understanding that it's impossible for me to imagine anyone else more suitable for the role than Bernal. Almodovar's script is extraordinarily complex, there are so many stories, so many lives, so many realities, tenderly woven together forming this web that tangles your mind and just doesn't let go. The characters are fleshed out so well - they are real, no doubt about that. They're flawed and have made mistakes but in the end they're human - with feelings and the need to be understood, to be redeemed, to fix things. Nothing is black and white and the entire movie was shot with compassion and heart and achieves that multi-dimensional understanding that truly makes this film stand on its own. I was speechless when we got out of the cinemas last night. All of us sat in the car and just stilled for a minute. I want to see this again, it's one of these rarities where you really do get a bit more each time you see it.

Wow. Almodovar - I think I might worship you now.

Also, did I mention the gay sex scenes? *drools* Incrediably sexy and. Beautiful. In all its facets of meaning.

As a project for my Evolution Class, I need all of YOUR help. Copy the meme below into your own journal, then post a comment here linking to the post in which this meme can be found. Make sure the meme itself links back to this post, so that everyone who posts this meme, on my friendspage or not, can link me to their meme-post. -- [info]ladyjaida

Also, THE HELL? Bush and Blaire were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize???!!? O.o. I'm having severe doubts that Nesvik was sober when he made these nominations. Thank heavens neither won. -_-

Assistance needed! [Jan. 19th, 2004|07:00 pm]
[Current Mood |aggravated]

Quick question. Or questions rather.

What's the onomatopoeia for sneezing? Is it achhoo? Archoo? Or am I not even close?

Also. When someone is sick, with sinus problems, sore throat, stuffy nose, voice possibly also muffled by a hanky or a cough drop... exactly how would they sound? Like would it be - "em seik eave mi anon" or maybe not so obvious and just - "I'm seik leave me anon". Or something entirely different?

Help! Teach me sick!speak.

I seem to be very into memes today. This one's gacked from [info]monochromal:

100 things in common with me meme )

And this one is gacked from [info]supergrover24...

I know very little about some of the people on my friends' list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your fic, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes spinach."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal.

My personal goal is: to stop procrastinating, to finish what I started and to get back into doing daily sit ups.

:D

Hugs to all of you
